If you have a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra or a Galaxy Z Fold7, you have likely been waiting with bated breath for the release of One UI 8.5. Good news, it’s here, starting today. Bad news, not everywhere yet.

“One UI 8.5 will begin rolling out in Korea starting May 6, with additional regions to follow,” Samsung announced today .

The End Of The Beta Cycle

The software had gone live back in February, when the Galaxy S26 series was launched. But for earlier models, including phones such as the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7, released in summer 2025, it was only available in beta form.

The update brings support for AirDrop through Quick Share. This means that the fast, simple wireless file transfer system for Apple device owners can now be used to transfer between iPhone and Samsung phones, too.

There are other changes on board the new update, but the AirDrop improvement has been highly anticipated by Samsung Galaxy users for a while now. It first appeared on Pixel phones, then on the S26 series and, any minute now will be on earlier Galaxy models, too.
