Larry Ellison’s Net Worth Jumps Back Above $200 Billion—Overtaking Nvidia’s Huang
Billionaire Oracle founder Larry Ellison’s net worth jumped back above $200 billion Thursday as Oracle’s 7% stock jump catapulted him ahead of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang as the seventh-wealthiest person in the world.
Ellison’s net worth is up nearly $12 billion as of 3:40 p.m. EDT, bringing his fortune to $200.2 billion.
The company’s stock price was up 6.4% at 3:40 p.m. EDT and was trading at about $155 per share—pushing up Ellison’s net worth, who owns roughly 40% of the company.
Ellison passed Huang, whose net worth was also up by about $4.3 billion on Thursday as Nvidia jumped more than 2%.
Oracle’s stock price is still down about 30% from where it was the same time last year, after crashing in June—a decline that brought Ellison from No. 2 on the list of world’s wealthiest down to number eight.
We estimate Huang’s net worth at $198. Huang’s fortune is primarily derived from his roughly 3% stake in Nvidia, the chip designer he co-founded in 1993 and took public in 1999. In recent years, Nvidia has evolved from a company specializing in high-end graphics cards for video gaming computers into producing some of the most in-demand chips for AI companies. Nvidia is now the largest company in the world by market capitalization.
Oracle’s first earnings report of the 2027 fiscal year is scheduled to be released next Thursday after markets close.
Oracle emerged as one of the major players in the AI ecosystem in recent years with its business selling cloud computing to frontier AI firms. However, investors became concerned about the company’s spending after its last earnings call in June. Oracle said it spent about $55.7 billion in 2026, over $5 billion more than its own projections, which it primarily financed through debt and equity. The company also said it had a $638 billion backlog in performance obligations. Much of this is thought to be from frontier AI labs—OpenAI notably signed a deal to purchase $300 billion in computing from Oracle in September 2025.
