This year’s IFA Berlin was packed with some unusual, weirdly cool, and amazing gadgets. From a rollable laptop to an over-engineered toothbrush, it had everything. I went around the show floor to check out as many things as I could (and probably missed a few). Here are the X gadgets that caught my eye and held my attention.

The Dyson CameraJet is an electric toothbrush with an AI camera, which enables the water-flossing function. Every time the camera spots a space, it deploys a jet of mouthrinse, so you can water floss as you go while brushing your teeth. It also has a live camera feature if you want to see inside your mouth (do you?). Dyson says it analyzes 28 live images per second to ensure the water goes into those hard-to-reach crevices. However, it doesn’t come cheap. The Dyson CameraJet is priced at $500.

Hypershell Halo exoskeleton

Hypershell has improved its exoskeleton in several ways. In comparison to the X Ultra model, the new Halo is easy to put on and take off. It also packs a lighter battery, additional buttons to control the pace and features motors centered on the knees and cuffs. During my brief demo, it felt premium (including the app experience) and offered support for the knee when squatting or tackling ramps and stairs. The Hypershell Halo exoskeleton is priced at $2,299.

The Flowtica Scribe seems like a normal premium ballpoint pen at first glance, but has a hidden feature. It helps you record and transcribe meetings with a single button located at the top of the pen. You can also use the multifunction button to highlight particular parts of a conversation in real time. The Scribe is now available for $159.

The Belkin UltraCharge Pro is a slim power bank, but instead of using the regular battery architecture, it uses semi-solid-state battery technology. Belkin says this allows it to shrink the size and last up to 3x longer than other battery banks over time. I got the demo at Showstoppers, and the power banks - in both 5,000mAh and 10,000mAh capacities - felt lightweight. Pricing starts at $70.

Lexar Muse Ultra-Slim Portable SSD

At 3.8 mm at its thickest point and tapering to 1mm around the edge, the Lexar Muse SSD is claimed to be the world’s thinnest SSD. It comes with a MagSafe sleeve that helps it magnetically attach to the iPhone. The Muse delivers read speeds of up to 1,050 MB/s and write speeds of up to 1,000 MB/s and will be available in 512GB and 1TB capacities from Q4 2026.

The Hohem Eyepic is a handheld gimbal with a detachable action camera. It looks similar to the DJI and Insta360 models, but has a crucial benefit: The detachable design allows it to rotate the camera fully, so it can record at up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second in both vertical and horizontal orientation. For context, other handheld gimbals use in-sensor crop and lower the resolution to 3K in vertical videos. You can also detach the camera module, snap it on your head or like a pendant and use the gimbal base as a live viewfinder.

The uCloudlink Petpogo PetPhone is exactly what it sounds like: a phone for pets. Although, it is technically a smart pet collar. It uses AI to recognize certain actions, such as barks, cat meows or sudden movements. For example, if your dog is agitated and restless, it will send you an alert and the option to initiate a “voice call” remotely to calm them down. Apart from these real-time alerts, it also offers Pet Emotion Insight. It is planned to get features like wellness alert messages and daily life records to help you better understand your furry friend. Plus, it supports more traditional capabilities like tracking and geofencing to alert pet parents about out-of-routine behaviors.

The Plantiemoji has a sensor that sticks into the soil of your plant to measure soil quality, oxygen, moisture, and light. It then uses AI to compare these measurements with the optimal conditions for your plant species. If you are not sure about it, you can also identify the species from within the app. Once done, it shows an animated emoji GIF (out of 26 available emojis) to convey how the plant is feeling. It can also tell you what you can do to improve your plant’s health.

The Sonos 27 operating system

Sonos had a bunch of announcements for IFA Berlin, including the launch of their Ace Ultra headphones, new AI features and the all-new Sonos 27 operating system . I’m most interested in the latter because it brings deeper AI integration to supercharge the in-house voice assistant (now called Sonos 27voice). You can also use it to create custom agents for your system or call on your favorite chatbot, such as ChatGPT or Google Gemini, to complete commands and reside in your Sonos products.

I’m also excited about the upcoming Sonos Ace Ultra headphones, which bring in-app integration for the cans. Its Headphone linking feature enables a “push and pull” of audio from the headphones to your system’s speakers, and vice versa. Once the Ace Ultra are part of the system, they’ll connect to your home Wi-Fi as the preferred protocol. And when you leave the house, they’ll rely on Bluetooth.
