While straight-to-streaming movies have a wide range of quality, there are misses, and there are misses . On Tuesday, Gal Gadot released a new action movie, The Runner , on Amazon Prime Video, and its Rotten Tomatoes review score among critics is absolutely brutal.

Gadot’s The Runner , where she attempts to rescue her kidnapped son, currently has just a 9% score on Rotten Tomatoes with almost a dozen reviews in (though no audience score yet). It is the lowest score of Gadot’s career, the highest being the original Wonder Woman at a 93%, widely regarded as one of the best DCEU movies (and there were not all that many).

Gal Gadot’s film history is largely poorly scored on Rotten Tomatoes, outside of some franchises where she was a supporting character like The Fast and the Furious . You can see the trajectory if you look at her film history , and the rotten ones are highlighted:

You may also see a pattern here that the larger Gadot’s role in a movie, as opposed to being part of an ensemble cast, the worse the score, outside of some instances like, of course, the original Wonder Woman. The Runner and Heart of Stone were the last two action films she led herself, and both have among the lowest scores she’s ever received, with The Runner now a record. It’s been a tough road.

Why the bottomed-out scores on The Runner ? Here is what some critics have to say:

  • RogerEbert.com – “The only exercise you’ll get is in your mind running through the ways it makes no sense.”
  • AVClub – “The long bout of cardio is a delightfully idiotic riff on Phone Booth and its ilk, perfectly obnoxious and exquisitely silly for the right kind of hate-watcher.”
  • The Daily Beast – “Flashy, insistent, and altogether pretentious, it’s a fine example of migraine cinema.”

“Migraine cinema,” now that’s a phrase. So, while people are certainly welcome to make up their own minds, just be forewarned that The Runner may not be worth your while, based on these brutal reviews.
