Vice President JD Vance said he thinks “end times . . . are coming,” that he wouldn’t be surprised if the “antichrist was walking among us” and that he has about a 75% chance of getting into heaven in a recent interview with a Christian podcaster.

Vance made the comments in response to a series of questions from 22-year-old Christian podcaster Bryce Crawford in a sitdown earlier this week while promoting his book, “Communion,” about his Catholic faith.

Vance said that there are times when he feels a “certain darkness” about comments some world leaders make and also said “there is some really, really weird spiritual dark energy” surrounding some of the things AI companies are doing, claiming some hold a “burial” when they retire an older AI model.

When asked how confident he was that he’s going to heaven, on a scale of 1-10, Vance said “it’s a seven or it’s an eight,” noting he still occasionally doubts heaven exists.

In a discussion about “end times,” Vance said he would not be “shocked if the antichrist was walking among us” and said he tries to live like the “end times are coming . . . it’s just a question of whether they’re coming thousands of years down the road or a few months down the road.”

When asked if a higher power intervened to thwart the assassination attempt against Trump in Butler, Pa., in 2024, Vance said “it is just so obvious to me that coincidences like that don’t happen without the hand of providence.”

He also defended Trump’s recent Truth Social post depicting himself as an AI-generated Jesus Christ, which Crawford said “upset” him: “I know that the president didn’t mean any offense, obviously he loves Christians . . . he’s a back slapper, he’s a bit of a ball buster,” Vance said, noting a staffer likely showed Trump the meme and he greenlit it because he thought it was funny.

Vance revisited the topic of UFOs after he raised eyebrows in March when he told podcaster Benny Johnson, “I”m obsessed with this . . . I don’t think they’re aliens, I think they’re demons.” Vance touched on the topic in his interview with Crawford: “I don’t have the file that says ‘this wasn’t a UFO, it was actually a demon,’” adding, “my attitude is . . . isn’t it as likely that there are angels or demons if there are extraterrestrials? But like I don’t have like a top secret file that sort of proves that one way or the other.”

Vance gave the interview as he’s taken on a more public-facing role ahead of the midterms, appearing at a rally in Michigan earlier this week for GOP Senate candidate former Rep. Mike Rogers. He also spoke at a rally in Maine last week, where Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, is facing a tough re-election battle. Collins did not attend the event. Vance is scheduled to host a White House press briefing Thursday, appearing at the podium after White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s resignation last month.
