Anthropic and the Gates Foundation announced a $200 million partnership this week addressing vaccine discovery, education, and economic mobility. Anthropic also rolled out a new product built for small businesses. OpenAI shipped its closest thing yet to an all-in-one AI super app. Google committed up to $40 billion to a single AI company. And a DeepMind veteran raised over a billion to build AI that learns without any human data at all.

Don’t listen to every piece of AI news that falls across your keyboard. Most of it doesn’t affect your business, change how you build, what you offer, and how you spend the next twelve months. But this fortnight had several stories that might modify your day-to-day. Here is what happened and what to do with it.

The Biggest AI News This Week And What It Means For Your Business

Anthropic And The Gates Foundation Are Pointing AI At Humanity’s Hardest Problems

Anthropic announced a four-year partnership with the Gates Foundation worth $200 million. The work covers vaccine and drug discovery for diseases including polio, HPV, and eclampsia. AI tutoring tools for K-12 students in the US, sub-Saharan Africa, and India. Career guidance for first-time job entrants. Portable skills records that follow workers across jobs. HPV alone causes around 350,000 deaths a year, almost entirely preventable.

The same tools you use to write content and run your business are now focused on vaccine discovery and education at scale. AI-for-good is a hot topic and these kind of stories will keep popping up. Ask yourself what your AI is currently optimised for. Then ask whether the answer makes you proud. Treat AI as a force multiplier for something meaningful to build a businesses with purpose.

Anthropic Launched A Product Built For Small Businesses

Claude for Small Business launched during May with 15 ready-to-run agentic workflows and 15 skills built inside the tools small businesses already use. Including QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, Docusign. Claude can plan payroll, close the month, run a sales campaign, chase invoices, and produce client-ready assets. Small businesses make up 44% of US GDP, with AI adoption far behind larger companies. The launch includes a free AI fluency course built with PayPal and a nationwide tour starting in Chicago.

Pick one workflow from the list and run it. Invoice chasing is the obvious starting point because it pays for itself this week. Take the half-day back that you used to spend on it and put it somewhere strategic. The gap between founders who layer AI on top of their admin and founders who delegate to it is widening. The faster you start doing instead of researching tools, the sooner you find out what your business looks like with fewer hours in it.

OpenAI’s Super App Is Getting Closer

OpenAI released GPT-5.5 as its most capable model yet, available to Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users. The release is openly framed as a step toward a single AI super app combining ChatGPT, Codex, and an AI browser into one unified product. OpenAI's chief scientist said the last two years have been surprisingly slow and that bigger improvements are coming.

When the super app arrives, the founders already in motion will get the most out of it. The ones yet to even try AI will be behind. Start optimising your workflow. Build a process around your current AI today, write down the prompts that work, and document the handoffs. When the next big update lands, you’re ready. That is how you stay ahead of the curve.

Anthropic Also Launched Claude For Creative Work

Anthropic launched a set of connectors that put Claude inside Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Ableton, Blender, SketchUp, and Splice. Use cases include on-demand software tutoring, AI-generated scripts and plugins, automating repetitive batch work, and bridging tools across a production pipeline. The launch also includes Claude Design, which lets users collaborate on visual work and export to Canva.

If you produce content, this changes how much you can ship. Pick the most repetitive part of your content workflow and offload it. The thumbnail batch. The carousel templates. The B-roll cuts. Save the energy for the original thinking. The brands winning right now are not the ones with the slickest visuals but the ones with the strongest point of view , produced consistently enough to be impossible to ignore.

Google Committed Up To $40 Billion To Anthropic

Google announced a deal worth up to $40 billion with Anthropic. $10 billion immediately at a $350 billion valuation. A further $30 billion contingent on performance targets. Google Cloud will provide 5 gigawatts of compute capacity over five years. This follows Amazon's $5 billion top-up the same week and a separate compute deal with CoreWeave. Anthropic's valuation has since been reported at $800 billion, with a possible IPO as early as October.

Take the figure as a signal of where the next decade of business is heading. The biggest companies in the world are placing the biggest bets of their history on AI infrastructure. Your business does not need that kind of capital, but it does need to be on the right side of the trade. Build your AI presence now. Treat 2026 as your AI year.

DeepMind’s Chess And Go Genius Is Now Building AI That Learns Without Humans

David Silver , the DeepMind researcher behind AlphaZero, has founded Ineffable Intelligence and raised $1.1 billion at a $5.1 billion valuation. Backers include Sequoia, Lightspeed, Nvidia, Google, and the UK's sovereign AI fund. The goal is to build an AI that discovers knowledge entirely from its own experience, without any human-generated training data. Silver has said any money he makes from the company will go to high-impact charities.

When AI stops needing human knowledge to improve, the value of static expertise drops fast. The value of original thinking, lived experience, and a clear point of view goes up. Your moat in five years will not be what you know. It will be what only you have done, what only you have seen, and the perspective only you can offer. Spend more of your week generating that, and less of it summarising what is already on the internet. The creators who scale are the ones whose AI has something genuinely original to amplify.

What This Week’s AI News Means For The Way You Build

This fortnight bought AI investment on a brand new scale. Anthropic is using AI to cure disease and educate children. Google is investing tens of billions to make sure the infrastructure is ready. Founders who build their AI presence now are positioning for a decade of compounding returns, while the ones who wait are betting on a slower future that is not coming. Invest, don't hoard. Think through the lens of abundance, not scarcity. It's playtime.
